Sales Trader - Asian Market
We're looking for a pro-active, energetic, commercially minded and ambitious deal-closer who loves to work - and play - hard to join our Commodities team at STX Group's headquarters in Amsterdam. The ideal candidate is someone who is not only fluent in Mandarin/Cantonese and English (and possibly another language too), but who is also very excited about the idea of building his/her own customer portfolio in the commodity market.
A lot has changed since 2005, when STX Group was founded as a small-scale intermediary company in the heart of Amsterdam. Starting out modestly, but ambitiously as one of the first European players in the Carbon Emission (EUA) market, the firm has grown over the years into a reputable international intermediary and trading company that employs over 100 staff members and covers a wide range of products on the global market. Working from offices in Amsterdam, New York and Gothenburg, our various teams draw on their entrepreneurial mindset to serve our clients optimally in their own languages. Our goal? To consolidate growth in dynamic existing markets while further exploring new products and emerging markets. Ultimately, our mission is to become a leading trader and market access provider in illiquid environmental commodities and debt capital markets.

STX Commodities is a renewable energy intermediary and sales-trading house focused on offering liquidity in the relative illiquid international renewable energy markets. STX was established over 12 years ago when the Kyoto protocol was implemented and being effectively one of the first European players on the Carbon Emission (EUA) market.
Over the years, STX Commodities evolved into a pan-European intermediary and sales-trading organization active in both physical renewables as well as certificates on renewables. Examples of physical renewables are bio-fuels such as bio-diesel and examples of renewable energy certificates are for instance Carbon Emissions and a variety of green-electricity certificates.
You will be responsible for
- Origination of clients in the renewables sector
- Building your own portfolio of clients
- Deal structuring, trades execution
- Analysis of regulation and preparation of business cases
- Managing sales activities towards B2B clients
- Closing deals!
- 1-4 years of commercial experience, preferably in trading or (bonus driven) sales;
- You’ve got the basic knowledge of financial concepts and commodity markets;
- You are a native Mandarin/Cantonese speaker;
- You are fluent in English;
- You've worked and lived in Asia;
- You have a strong commercial drive and an eager and proactive attitude;
- You are living or willing to relocate to Amsterdam
